State Miscellaneous and Industrial, and Local Miscellaneous

“State Miscellaneous” are individuals employed by the State and Universities who are not involved in law enforcement, fire suppression, the protection of public safety, or employed in a position designated by law as industrial, patrol, peace officer/firefighter or safety.

“State Industrial” are individuals employed by the Department of Corrections or the Department of Youth Authority, other than those who work as State safety or peace officers/ firefighters. Also included are individuals employed by the Board of Prison Terms, Youthful Offender Parole Board, Division of Adult Paroles, and the Board of Trustees of the California Institution for Women who hold positions designed by law as State industrial.

Local Miscellaneous

“Local Miscellaneous” members are individuals employed by a public agency or special district that has contracted with CalPERS who are not involved Law enforcement, fire suppression, the protection of public safety, or employed in a position designated by law as local safety.
